Your Service Head And Its Earthing System

Many people think that electricity supply to our homes is just a matter of few cables connected to the meter and supplying electricity for our daily use. But did you know that proper electric supply prevents us from getting electrocuted?
Electricity in our homes is supplied through the earthing system. There are three main types of earthing arrangements:
  1. TN-C-S systems
  2. TN-S systems
  3. TT systems
Among these three, TN-C-S systems are most commonly used nowadays.
TN-C-S system is where the earth and neutral, coming from electricity supplier, are combined but split at the suppliers’ cut-out fuse service head. Moreover, in this system, a request of additional earth rod to be installed on the premises is given by the electricity supplier, at times. This system is also known as a PME supply.
TN-S system is where separate neutral and earth are provided to the service head by the electricity supplier.
TT system is used where electricity supplier service head provides no earth and the installer provides an earthing of its own by installing an earth electrode. This system is usually found in rural areas; it can also be easily identified by the low wooden pylons with 4 parallel cables on the roads of such areas. TT system is mainly used in Coal mining.
Through the supplementary equipotential bonding, the earthing systems are able to protect us from getting electrocuted at our homes. They reduce the risk of electric shock by connecting extraneous conductive parts and exposed conductive parts together. Since the electricity flow between them is eliminated by the earthing systems, we get protected from the electric shock.
Reliable Earthing Equipment is easily available on various online websites. Many such Earthing Equipment manufacturing and supplying companies understand the importance of good earthing systems that play the role of savior in our lives.
